2024 9yo tournament schedule and results

June 29, 10am - Naamans 13, Newark American 6
      Naamans pitches - Sharkey 75, Holbert 50+
      Newark American pitches - Moore 45, Burkhardt 50, Katz 48
      Winning pitcher Gavin Sharkey only allowed 2 hits and 2 runs over 4 innings while striking out 6.  He also had 2 hits.  Luke Bookout added 2 hits including a double.  For American, Chad Baul got on base 3 times and Chord Katz doubled.

June 29, 12pm - Brandywine 17, Stanton-Newport 3 (4 innings)
       Brandywine pitches - Nguyen 48, McCann 39
       Stanton-Newport pitches - Skinner 49, McCusker 75+, D'Antonio 8
       Tiago Salazar led a balance Brandwine attack with a single, double, and 3 runs scored.  9 Bwine players had hits and 10 scored runs.  JJ Nguyen and Cole McCann combined to strike out 8 batters in 4 innings while only allowing 3 hits and 3 runs.  Kam Skinner was 2 for 2 for Stanton-Newport.
 
June 29, 2pm - Pike Creek 10, Canal 0 (5 innings)
        Pike Creek pitches - Whitaker 73
        Canal pitches - Casper 75+, Couden 47, Wolfe 24
        Tristan Whitaker pitched a complete game 1-hit shutout.  Easton Dolan reached base 3 times, scored twice, and had 4 assists at SS.  Mason Sontowski had the walk-off RBI single.  Timmy Wieczorek had a single for Stanton.

July 1, 6:30pm - Newark National 10, Naamans 3 (7 innings)
          Newark National pitches - Rhodes 75, Ellis 58
          Naamans pitches - Lockwood 75, Gibbons 35+, Adams 29, Harrington 30
          For 5 innings, there was a great pitching duel between Alex Rhodes and Ethan Lockwood leading to a 2-2 tie.  Each team scored a run in the 6th.  Then National exploded for 7 runs in the top of the 7th and Naamans couldn't answer.  Two-run singles by Gio Shields and Nolan Maxwell were the big hits in the inning.  Winning pitcher Lawson Ellis had two hits including a triple.  Lockwood had 3 hits and scored the first two runs for Naamans.

July 2, (on Minor A field) 6pm - Canal 15, Stanton-Newport 4 (4 innings), Stanton-Newport eliminated
          Canal pitches - Wolfe 75+, Couden 17, Cloud 5
           Stanton-Newport pitches - D'Antonio 35+, Carter 18, Skinner 43, Robinson 28
           Canal scored 11 runs in the first two innings and coasted to a 15-4 win behind pitching of Bryce Wolfe.  Timmy Wieczorek had 2 hits and scored 3 times.  Gage Casper and Elliot Fazzio had doubles.  Kade Porter also scored 3 runs.  For Stanton, Mason Carter, Mark D'Antonio, and Leighton Perry had hits.

July 2, 6:30pm - Pike Creek 11, Brandywine 7
            Pike Creek pitches - Rozenko 75, Dolan 54, Sontowski 19
            Brandywine pitches - Seiff 68, Salazar 46, Craig 24
            Pike Creek took an 11-1 lead into the bottom of the 6th when Brandywine rallied for 6 runs without an out.  Mason Sontowski came in to relieve and retired the final 3 batters.  Jace Rozenko worked out of jams in the first 3 innings, allowing only one run while stranding 8.  Catcher Cal Crowe scored 3 runs and made two spectacular catches of foul pop ups.  Nicky Harrar knocked in 4 runs on 2 hits.  Evan Seiff had two hits for Brandywine.

July 4-7 - No games.  Happy Independence Day!

July 8 (on Minor A field)6pm - Brandywine 17, Newark American 3 (4inn), Newark American eliminated
           Brandywine pitches - McCann 35+, Nguyen 12, Walz 5, Quinn 35
           Newark American pitches - Baul 40, Burkhardt 41, Moore 43
           Cole McCann and JJ Nguyen combined to hold Newark American to 2 hits and 1 run over the first 3 innings while Brandywine rapped 11 hits en route to a 17-3 win.  Evan Seiff led the offense with 3 hits and 3 runs scored, while Tiago Salazar and Taylor Quinn had two hits each.  Jack Burkhardt had a double and scored for American.

July 8, 6:30pm - Canal 13, Naamans 2 (5 inn), Naamans eliminated
            Canal pitches - Casper 71, Cloud 20+
            Naamans pitches - Sharkey 35, Holbert 70, Lockwood ?
            Canal took advantage of 7 walks in the first inning to jump to a 7-0 lead and coasted to a 13-2 win.  Gage Casper allowed only 2 unearned runs and one hit while striking out 8 in 4 innings for Canal.  Kade Porter and Levi Cloud each had two hits for Canal.  Gavin Sharkey had the only hit for Naamans.

July 10 (on Minor A field)6pm - Brandywine 10, Canal 8, Canal eliminated
           Brandywine pitchers - Seiff 63, Craig 28, McCann 35+, Salazar 48
           Canal pitchers - Wolfe 75+, Cloud 8, Couden 37
           Brandywine blew open a close game with 7 runs in the bottom of the 4th and held on for a 10-8 win.  Evan Seiff struck out 7 in the first 3 innings and Tiago Salazar got the final 5 outs without a run for the save.  Luke Pixley, Braden Barillare, and Mason Giles each had 2 hits and combined for 4 runs scored and 4 RBIs.  Jacob Christopher had a double and 3 RBIs while Zach Craig doubled and scored in the first inning.  Levi Cloud led the Canal attack with a double, single, and 2 runs scored.  Leo Couden and Brantley Pettit each had RBI doubles.

July 10, 6:30pm -Pike Creek 10, Newark National 0 (5 inn)
           Pike Creek pitchers - Whitaker 60
           Newark National pitchers - Rhodes 50+, Crist 43, Maxwell 22
           Tristan Whitaker got this second complete game shutout of the tournament as Pike Creek cruised into the championship game with a 10-0 win over Newark National.  Nicholas Harrar went 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored.  Cal Crowe went 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored.  Sydney Starke and Michael Crumlish added singles.  Jaxson Golden and Jordan Rumley had hits for National.

July 13, 10am - Brandywine 13, National 6, National eliminated
           Brandywine pitches - Nguyen 49, Craig 35+, Salazar 26
           National pitches - Ellis 35, Crist 33, Rhodes 66
           Mason Giles had 2 hits, reached on an error, 2 RBI's, and 2 runs scored to lead a balanced Brandywine attack.  9 players got hits and 11 players either scored or had an RBI.  Zach Craig also had 2 hits.  Alex Rhodes had a two-run triple for National and Harris Crist had two hits and scored twice.

July 15, 6:30pm - Pike Creek 10 vs Brandywine 4 - CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
            Pike Creek pitches - Whitaker 75+, Rozenko 44
            Brandywine pitches - Craig 20, Salazar 67, Seiff 6
            Pike Creek took the lead on a 3-run inside-the-park home run by Nicholas Harrar in the first inning and went on to win 10-4.  Tristan Whitaker and Jace Rozenko combined to pitch and strand 8 Brandywine runners on base.  With one out and the bases loaded in the top of the 6th, Mason Sontowski made an incredible catch in LF with the runners moving enabling a game-ending double play.  Easton Dolan, Jace Rozenko, and Cal Crowe each scored twice.  Dan DePrisco had a double.  Sydney Starke had an RBI single.  For Brandywine, Braeden Barillare had two hits including a 3-run double in the first inning.  Luke Pixley also had 2 hits.
