George Conaway Memorial Trophy

The George Conaway Memorial Trophy is given in memory of George Conaway, a long-time volunteer at Midway as a manager and Umpire-in-Chief. Mr. Conaway managed the 1978 Senior All-Star Team and passed away later that year.

All 16-year-old players in the Senior Division are considered based on:

• Volunteer time to the league
• Outstanding sportsmanship
• Leadership
• Citizenship
• Number of years played

The selection committee consists of the Senior Division VP and the Senior Division managers.

John Tirrell Trophy

The John Tirrell Trophy is given in honor of John Tirrell, one of the founding members of Midway Little League. John helped form Midway in 1965 and spent over 50 years supporting the league in nearly every capacity. He was instrumental in building our fields, concession stand, two press boxes, numerous dugouts, equipment shed, and batting cage.

John passed away at the age of 91 on July 22, 2017. He is honored through both this award and the naming of the Junior/Senior field, known as John Tirrell Field.

All 12-year-old players in the Major Division who have grown up in the league are considered based on:

• Outstanding sportsmanship
• Leadership
• Citizenship
• Hard work and hustle

The selection committee consists of the managers and one coach from each Majors team, plus the Majors Division VP.
