All-Star season summary (updated 7/17)
The Eights played in a machine-pitch double-elimination tournament at Newark National LL. The team was managed by Ryan Rozenko. Members of the team were: Matthew Bogart, Cal Crowe, Leo DeVaul, Easton Dolan, Lucas Francica, Nicholas Harrar, Logan Hart, Logan Nepi, Logan Podolak, Jace Rozenko, Julian Ryan, Joseph Scanlon, and Cole Steele. The team beat Canal 15-8 and New Castle 8-2 but then lost to Naamans in the winners bracket final 19-13. They then rallied from a 10-2 deficit to beat New Castle 14-13 with a walk-off win. But in the championship game, Naamans earned a walk-off 14-13 win. 2nd place!
The Nines won the District 2 championship. The team was managed by Pat Dolan. Members of the team were Theo Bojarski, Luke DiRocco, Landon Dolan, Jack Fallon, Brayden Kucharski, Bryce Lewicki, Declan McLaughlin, Jake Moorhead, Cole Starke, Dominic Starr, Jaxson Swarter, Colton Terranova, and Brycen Wyatt. They won their opener against Newark American, 13-5, but then lost to Canal 19-5. They beat Newark National 25-0 and came from behind to beat Naamans 17-14 and Brandywine 5-2. They then beat Canal 9-3 and 11-10 (7 innings) to win the title. The entire tournament was played at Catalina Field.
The Tens played in a double-elimination tournament at Naamans LL. The team was managed by Dave Price. Members of the team were Jayminson Bundy, Jacob Carpenter, Boden Davis, Cameron Fischer, Jackson Fullwood, Tyrrell Hammond, Gregory Hartless, Domenick Harrar, Owen Nelson, Luke Petka, Austin Price, Francis Ryan, Colin Steele, and Rohan Zielinski. The team beat New Castle 19-5 but lost to Canal 17-7 and Newark National 9-3.
The Major District All-Stars are playing in a double-elimination tournament. The team is managed by Keith Hinckle, assisted by John Nelson and Dave Chorlton. Members of the team are: Jacob Allen, Logan Birch, Carter Bogan, Ben Chorlton, Nico Evans, Chase Harden, Cameron Hinckle, Maddi Hinckle, Paul Kamenitzer, Jayden Mitchell, McKeon Neef, Carter Nelson, Evan Yost, and Brendan Zielinski. The team lost their opener to Naamans 2-1, then beat New Castle 18-2 (2.5 innings mercy rule), Canal 9-2, Newark National 4-1, and Newark American 2-1 (walk-off). In the championship game, they lost another 2-1 heartbreaker to Naamans.
The Brandywine Invitational team consists of 11-12yo who don't make the District team. Games will be played at Brandywine LL. The team is managed by Anthony Bogan, assisted by Pat McGrory and Buck Harper. Members of the team are: Ryan Cascino, Joseph DeBright, Destin Glazik, Jaeden Glazik, Ryan Hanby, Evan Hazeldine, Noah Harper, Mark Hendrix, Ryan McCullin, Travis McGrory, Parker Nagle, Kam Rogers, Zachary Saunders, Caiden Sherlock, and Shane Sklodowski. The team beat Newark American 5-1 but lost to Canal 4-3 and Naamans 13-1. They finished their tournament with a 5-0 shutout of Suburban. With a 2-2 record, they just missed the playoffs.
The Junior District All-Stars played in a double-elimination tournament at District 2 fields. There were 6 teams in the tournament. The team was managed by Frank Lewis. Members of the team were:
Carter Bartkowski, Alan Cascino, Jacob Doyle, DeAndre Harris, Colin Klingensmith, Ryker Lewis, Tommy McGrory, John Nich, Tyler Protas, Warren Swank, Chase Watson, Shane Wilson, and August Zickgraf
. The team opened with a 5-3 loss to Brandywine, but then beat Suburban 8-4 and Newark American 14-0. But, in the losers bracket final, they lost a heartbreaker to Brandywine, 11-10. Brandywine beat Naamans twice to win the state title.
The Senior District All-Stars were the first team to start and played in a double-elimination tournament at District 2 fields. There are 5 teams in the tournament. Mid-Cap lost 13-0 to Brandywine and 4-0 to Newark National . The team was managed by Duncan Outslay and Brent Spencer. Members of the team were: Colin Cushing, Gavin Erbayri, Nico Marroni, Peter McCarron, Colin McLaughlin, Will Outslay, Aiden Richards, Anthony Rogers, Ryan Strawbridge, Jacob Spencer, and Brian Yeager. Naamans won the district title, but came in 2nd in state tournament.
