JR / SR Season Summary
Pike Creek had two Senior teams this year, the Dodgers and the Orioles. Both teams won 3 games, finished 7th and 8th out of 9 teams. Dodgers lost to Newark National in first round of playoffs, while Orioles couldn't get enough players and had to forfeit their game in the playoffs. Naamans Boston Market won the regular season and Naamans HyPoint won the playoffs.
We had four Junior teams. All finished .500 or better. Blue Jays(11-5) were seeded 3rd, Yankees(11-5) 5th, the A's(8-8) 6th, and the Phillies(7-6) 8th. Note that standings are based on points, which rewards teams that play all of their games and turns in pitch counts on time, so best record doesn't always mean everything. In the playoffs, the Phillies lost in the first round to undefeated #1 seed Suburban. The Yankees beat the #4 Newark National Brewers in the first round but lost to Suburban in the semifinals. The Blue Jays beat the A's in the first round, then beat the Newark American Blue Rocks in the semis to advance to the championship game against Suburban.
The championship game was a great pitcher's duel between Keynan Hunter of the Blue Jays and Thomas Armstrong of Suburban. Both pitched into the 7th inning with the score 0-0. In the bottom of the 7th, with one out and a Suburban runner on 2B, a Suburban player grounded out for the 2nd out. The runner on 2B tried to advance to 3B and the throw from 1B wasn't caught allowing the only run of the game to score. Suburban won 1-0 despite getting no hits in the game.
